👆 Who Touched Me?

Luke 8:45

The street was packed. The crowd pressed in. Everyone was near Jesus, bumping into Him. But suddenly, He stopped—and asked a surprising question:

“Who touched me?” (Luke 8:45)

Peter was confused. “Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee…” (v. 45) Everyone was touching Him. But not like this.

One woman, sick for twelve years, had reached through the crowd in desperation—and drawn power from the Savior.

1️⃣ The Press of the Crowd

Jesus was on His way to heal Jairus’s daughter. A crowd followed, pressing around Him. The word used for “throng” means to almost crush Him. It was chaos—noise, jostling, elbows, sandals.

And yet… He stops.

Not because of the crowd, but because of one quiet act of faith.

🧠 Insight:

Many were near Jesus. But one woman touched Him—not casually, but with desperate belief.

2️⃣ The Touch That Drew Power

“Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.” (Luke 8:46)

Virtue = power. Something supernatural happened when her fingers brushed the hem of His garment.

Jesus felt it. Not physically—but spiritually.

  • 🧍‍♂️ The crowd bumped into Him with curiosity.
  • 🙏 The woman reached out with faith.

Mark 5:28 – “If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.”

This was not superstition—it was belief in the Messiah’s power. And that belief stopped heaven.

3️⃣ The Confession and the Comfort

The woman, trembling, came forward. She told the truth. Jesus wasn’t angry—He was moved.

Luke 8:48 – “Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”

He didn’t just heal her body. He affirmed her identity. He publicly honored her faith. He gave her peace.

📝 Preaching Note: There’s a difference between brushing against Jesus and believing in Him. Faith makes the difference. And Jesus still responds to it.

📖 Scriptures That Echo This Encounter

  • Mark 11:24 – “What things soever ye desire… believe that ye receive them…”
  • Hebrews 11:6 – “Without faith it is impossible to please Him…”
  • Matthew 9:22 – “Thy faith hath made thee whole.”
  • Jeremiah 29:13 – “Ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

🧭 Final Reflection: Did You Touch Him?

“Who touched Me?”

It’s still the question today. Many are around Jesus—hearing sermons, singing songs, holding Bibles. But how many are reaching for Him in faith?

He knows the difference. And He still responds.

Don’t just stand in the crowd. Stretch out your hand. Touch Him. Believe.

Because when you do—He will stop everything for you.
