📜 The Command
Jesus calls His followers to discernment. Not everyone who claims to speak for God actually does. False teachers may look harmless and sound persuasive, but their motives are predatory and their message is destructive.

- Deception is Inevitable – Throughout Scripture, God warns that false voices will rise (Jeremiah 23:16; 2 Peter 2:1; 1 John 4:1).
- Fruits Reveal Roots – Sound doctrine produces holiness; false doctrine breeds pride, greed, and sin.
- Christ is the Standard – We test teachers against the gospel of Jesus Christ (Galatians 1:8–9).

- Beware – Greek: prosechete (προσέχετε, pro-SEH-che-teh) – “be alert, hold your attention on, guard against.”
- False prophet – Greek: pseudoprophētēs (ψευδοπροφήτης, pseu-do-pro-FAY-tace) – one who pretends to speak God’s truth but leads astray.
🌿 Biblical Illustrations
- Hananiah the false prophet contradicted Jeremiah’s word of judgment (Jeremiah 28).
- Paul warned the Ephesian elders of “savage wolves” who would not spare the flock (Acts 20:29–30).
💎 Diamond of Truth
True prophets lead people to Christ and obedience to His Word. False prophets distort Scripture, appeal to fleshly desires, and draw people after themselves. Fruit, not flash, proves the root.
