âLet your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.â â Matthew 5:16
Light is not meant to be hidden. Itâs meant to shine. And Jesus says to every believer: Let it shine. Donât dim your faith for comfort. Donât hide your hope to fit in. The world is dark, and the light you carry is not for youâitâs for them.
But notice the balance. We donât shine to be seenâwe shine so that He is seen. Our good works are not for applause, but for His glory. When the light of Christ radiates through our compassion, integrity, forgiveness, and faithâit points upward, not inward.
đ Word Study
Let⊠shine (Greek: lampsatĆ, λαΌÏÎŹÏÏ) â to give off light, to beam, to radiate, to shine forth.
Itâs in the imperativeâan ongoing command. Donât flicker. Donât fade. Keep shining.
Good works (Greek: kalÄ erga, Îșαλᜰ áŒÏγα) â beautiful, noble, excellent deeds that reflect Godâs character.
đ A Diamond of Truth
Jesus is the source of the lightâbut we are the vessels. He doesnât tell us to create the light. He tells us to stop covering it. A quiet act of kindness. A timely word of truth. A consistent walk of holiness. These things pierce the darkness like stars in the night.
And when the world sees that lightâtheyâll want to know its source.
đŹ Reflect and Respond
- Are you shining brightlyâor hiding in the shadows?
- Do your good works point to your goodness or to Godâs grace?
- Where is God calling you to shine His light today?
Let your light shineânot for attention, but for impact.
So that others may seeâŠand glorify your Father.
