Jesus affirmed civic responsibility while insisting on supreme devotion to God. Taxes may belong to Caesar, but worship belongs to the Lord alone.

• Two Kingdoms – We live under earthly authority but ultimately serve God’s eternal kingdom (Romans 13:1–7).
• Image Bearers – Coins bore Caesar’s image, but we bear God’s image. Our whole selves belong to Him.

• Render – Greek: apodidōmi (ἀποδίδωμι, ah-po-DID-oh-mee) – to pay back, return what is due.
