âBut seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.â â Matthew 6:33
Jesus knows our tendency to worry about everythingâwhat weâll eat, what weâll wear, how weâll survive. But instead of offering shallow comfort, He gives a bold command: Seek first the kingdom. Donât chase after stuffâchase after God. Donât obsess over the temporaryâprioritize the eternal.
This command is not a call to neglect responsibilityâitâs a call to reorder your heart. When the kingdom comes first, everything else finds its proper place. Peace flows when purpose is in order.
đ Word Study
Seek (Greek: zÄteĹ, ΜΡĎÎĎ) â to strive after, to crave, to diligently pursue with priority and passion.
First (Greek: prĹton, ĎĎáżśĎον) â before all else, of utmost importance, foundational in order and emphasis.
Jesus is calling for more than inclusionâHe demands preeminence.
đ A Diamond of Truth
You were made for more than survivalâyou were made for the kingdom. When we seek Godâs reign and righteousness, we find joy, clarity, and provision. Life becomes less about juggling and more about trusting. And the things we used to chase? They begin to chase us.
Seek the King, and everything else will follow.
đŹ Reflect and Respond
- What does your schedule reveal about what youâre seeking first?
- Are you pursuing Godâs kingdomâor asking Him to bless yours?
- What would change if His reign became your first priority?
Donât seek comfort. Donât seek fame. Donât even seek answers.
Seek the King. And youâll find everything else you truly need.
