Key Verse:
βLet your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt.β β Colossians 4:6 (ESV)
The Discipline of Content Speech
Content speech is intentional speech β speaking with purpose, purity, and grace. Words are powerful. They create climates in homes, atmospheres in churches, and direction for hearts. Solomon wrote, βDeath and life are in the power of the tongue.β
The discipline of content speech means our words are measured, meaningful, and Christlike. We refuse gossip, reject slander, avoid coarse joking, and guard against complaining. Grace becomes the salt that seasons our sentences.
The disciplined believer understands that speech is stewardship β every word reflects the Savior we represent. When our words bring peace, encouragement, and healing, we become instruments of Godβs grace in the lives of others.
When Christ rules the heart, He refines the tongue. A sanctified tongue is one of the clearest signs of a surrendered life.
