Key Verse:
โLet us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith.โ โ Hebrews 12:1โ2 (ESV)
The Discipline of Endurance
Endurance is faith stretched over time. Itโs not running fastโitโs refusing to quit. The discipline of endurance strengthens the believer to keep trusting, keep obeying, and keep rejoicing even when life feels long and hard.
Scripture compares faith to a race, not a sprint but a marathon. We run โwith endurance,โ not enthusiasm alone. Endurance grows in seasons of waiting, testing, and trial. It is refined in the fire and rewarded in the finish.
James 1:12 says, โBlessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial.โ Every trial becomes training for greater trust. The weight we carry today is building strength for tomorrowโs victory. God is not only after our success but our stamina.
Endurance looks to Jesus. He endured the cross for the joy set before Him. His perseverance purchased our salvation and provides our pattern. When we fix our eyes on Him, we find the grace to finish our race well.
Endurance doesnโt mean you never slow downโit means you never stop looking up. Keep your eyes on Christ; Heโs both the goal and the strength to reach it.
