Key Verse:
“Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9 (ESV)
The Discipline of Holy Courage
Courage is not the absence of fear—it is the presence of faith. Holy courage is the Spirit-given ability to obey God even when obedience feels costly, risky, or intimidating. Joshua trembled at the edge of the Promised Land, yet God called him to strength, not because he was strong, but because God would go with him.
Holy courage is forged in moments of decision: Will I speak truth in love? Will I stand when others sit? Will I obey when it’s easier to retreat? Will I trust God in the unknown? Courage grows every time we choose faith over fear.
The believer who practices holy courage does not operate from bold personality but from deep conviction that God is sovereign and present. Courage rises when we remember that battles belong to the Lord and that victory rests on His power, not our strength.
When fear whispers, “You can’t,” courage replies, “But God can.” Those who walk in holy courage become beacons of hope in a fearful world.
Courage isn’t about being fearless—it’s about being faithful. God supplies courage wherever obedience requires it.
