Key Verse:
โAnd let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body.โ โ Colossians 3:15 (ESV)
The Discipline of Peace
Peace is not the absence of conflictโit is the presence of Christ. The discipline of peace trains the heart to rest in Godโs sovereignty rather than react to lifeโs uncertainty. It is a settled confidence that the Lord reigns and we belong to Him.
Jesus said, โMy peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to youโ (John 14:27). His peace cannot be shaken by circumstance or stolen by fear. It guards the mind like a soldier standing watch over the soul.
Peace must be chosen daily. We let it โruleโ by yielding our anxieties to Christ in prayer. Worry dethrones peace; worship restores it. The more we trust, the less we tremble.
Peace also becomes our witness. When others see calm hearts in chaotic times, they see Christโs character reflected in us. A peaceful spirit preaches louder than words.
Peace is not found by escaping storms but by embracing the Savior within them. When Christ rules the heart, calm rules the day.
