Key Verse:
βAnd he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.β β Luke 18:1 (ESV)
The Discipline of Persevering Prayer
Persevering prayer is prayer that refuses to quit. Jesus taught us to ask, seek, and knock β verbs of persistence and continuous action. Spiritual discipline is not merely praying once, but praying until the burden lifts and peace returns.
Sometimes God answers quickly. Sometimes the answer comes slowly. And sometimes the answer is shaped in us before it is given to us. Persevering prayer changes circumstances at times, but it always changes us. It softens pride, strengthens faith, purifies motives, and grows endurance.
The enemy wants us to grow weary in prayer because he knows what happens when believers persist: mountains move, hearts soften, doors open, and chains break. Persevering prayer keeps us aligned with Godβs will and anchored in Godβs presence.
Prayer that persists becomes prayer that prevails β not because of our effort, but because of His faithfulness.
