βHe makes me lie down in green pastures.β β Psalm 23:2 (ESV)
The Discipline of Sacred Rest
Sacred rest is more than sleep β it is intentional renewal of the soul in the presence of God. The Shepherd makes us lie down because He knows that weary hearts cannot worship well, obey fully, or hear clearly.
Rest is not laziness; it is obedience. God built sabbath into creation before sin ever entered the world. Jesus invited the weary to Himself, promising rest not just for the body but for the soul.
Sacred rest teaches us to let go of burdens we were never meant to carry. It refuels joy, restores peace, and resets spiritual perspective. Rest declares that God runs the universe β not us.
Rest is worship. When you rest in God, you remind your soul who is truly in control.
