The Discipline of Service
Service is love made visible. It is faith wearing work clothes. Every time we serve in Jesus’ name, we reflect the heart of the One who stooped to wash His disciples’ feet.
In the kingdom of God, greatness is measured by humility. Jesus said, “Whoever would be great among you must be your servant” (Mark 10:43). Service is not beneath us—it is the road that leads us closer to Christ.
When we serve others, we touch the presence of Christ Himself. “Whatever you did for one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to Me” (Matthew 25:40). No act of kindness is wasted when done in love.
True service begins with seeing. The Spirit opens our eyes to needs around us and stirs compassion within us. It may mean giving time, encouragement, or simply presence. It might look small on earth but echoes loudly in heaven.
Service transforms both the giver and the receiver. The one who serves discovers joy; the one who’s served experiences grace. As we pour out, God fills up. The basin and towel still mark the path of blessing today.
The hands that serve are the hands that shine. Every humble task becomes holy when done for the glory of God.
