Daily Diamonds – Spiritual Disciplines: The Discipline of Readiness for Christ’s Return

Key Verse:
“Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” – Matthew 24:44 (ESV)

The Discipline of Readiness for Christ’s Return

Readiness is a spiritual posture — a life lived awake, alert, and aligned with eternity. Jesus repeatedly commanded His people to watch, stay prepared, and keep their lamps burning. The discipline of readiness is the discipline of living today in the light of that coming Day.

This readiness is not fear-driven but hope-driven. The return of Christ is the believer’s blessed hope, not a threat. It purifies motives, sharpens priorities, and stirs passion for holiness. When we remember that Christ could return at any moment, we live with purpose, urgency, and joy.

Readiness means keeping short accounts with God, engaging in the mission, loving others well, and refusing spiritual sleep. It means storing treasure in heaven, not earth, and fixing our eyes on the One who is coming for His bride.

The disciplined believer lives with one ear listening for the trumpet and one hand busy with faithful work.

💡 Insight:
Readiness is not about knowing the day — it is about living every day as if it were the day.
