A Child Is Known – God’s View of Children
From the series: Biblical Pronouns – Who Does God Say That I Am?
“Even a child makes himself known by his acts, by whether his conduct is pure and upright.”
– Proverbs 20:11 (ESV)
God’s Heart for Children
In a world where children are often seen as inconvenient or overlooked, God calls them blessings, examples, and arrows in the hands of the next generation. When Scripture speaks of a child, it’s never casual—it’s covenantal. Children are not just the future of the Church; they are part of the Church today.
1. A Child Is Known by Their Actions
Children reveal their hearts early. Their behavior points to character, shaping their witness. God’s Word reminds us that even the smallest lives are seen by Him and have the ability to reflect purity and truth.
Application: Our children are forming habits and beliefs right now. Let’s guide them in the way of the Lord so they are known by faith and not by folly.
2. A Child Is Welcomed by Jesus
Jesus never turned away children. In fact, He used them as an example of what real faith looks like. He didn’t just tolerate children—He elevated them.
Cross-Reference: Matthew 18:2-5 — “Unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
3. A Child Is a Gift and a Reward
The Bible never calls children a burden. Instead, it calls them a blessing. Each life is a divine trust given to parents and the Church for nurturing, not neglecting.
Cross-Reference: Psalm 127:3-5 — “Children are a heritage from the Lord… like arrows in the hand of a warrior.”
4. A Child Can Know God
God doesn’t require adulthood to begin working in someone’s life. Many great stories in Scripture begin with faithful children—Samuel, Josiah, David. Children are not “lesser believers.” They can know, follow, and honor God from the start.
Cross-Reference: 2 Timothy 3:15 — “From childhood you have known the sacred writings…”
Raising Children with Purpose
God’s pronouns for children are rich with identity and intention. He says: they are gifts, they are precious, they are teachable, they are capable of faith. Every child matters to Him. And every child has a part to play in the story of redemption.
