Revelation 5:2–5 (ESV) – “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals? …And one of the elders said to me, ‘Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah… has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.’”
In John’s vision, a scroll rests in the right hand of the One seated on the throne. It is sealed. Unopened. Mysterious. It contains the unfolding of God’s final plan—judgment, redemption, restoration. But no one is found worthy to open it.
John begins to weep. It seems the plan of God will remain forever locked. But then an elder says, “Weep no more.” The Lion has conquered. The Lamb has come.
Jesus steps forward—not with force, but with worth. His victory on the cross has qualified Him to unlock the future. He alone has the right to unseal the scroll. All of history bends to His hands.
Heaven erupts in worship—not because a plan is revealed, but because the Person behind the plan is praised. The Lamb who was slain now holds the scroll. The destiny of the world is opened not by politics or armies—but by scars.
Isaiah 29:11 – “And the vision of all this has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed…”
Revelation 5:9 – “…you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God…”
Luke 24:45 – “Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures…”
Life Application:
Are you anxious about the future? Take heart. The scroll is in His hands. Not yours. Not the world’s. The same Jesus who died for you now governs time, history, and eternity. Worship the Lamb—He’s already opened what no one else could touch.
