“Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and called there on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God.” – Genesis 21:33
Everything in life changes. People age, seasons shift, circumstances rise and fall. But in a world full of expiration dates, there is One who remains unchanged and unchanging: El Olam, “The Everlasting God.”
Abraham called on this name after seeing God’s faithfulness unfold over years of waiting, testing, and promise-keeping. In worship, he planted a tree—something that would grow long after he was gone—and invoked the name of the God whose presence outlasts every age.
📜 Word Study
El means “God.” Olam (עוֹלָם) means “eternity, forever, perpetual, unending.” El Olam is the God who has no beginning and no end. He is beyond time but actively involved in it. Psalm 90:2 declares, “From everlasting to everlasting, you are God.”
This name is also seen in Isaiah, where God is called the “Everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth” who never grows weary (Isaiah 40:28). His strength is not temporary. His mercy does not run out. His promises never expire.
💎 A Diamond of Truth
When your world feels unstable, remember El Olam. His love is not subject to mood swings. His truth is not outdated. His presence is not seasonal. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
And because He is everlasting, you can trust that your life in Him has eternal purpose. He sees the end from the beginning—and He holds you securely through it all.
