Daily Diamonds – Names of God: Jehovah Yasha (The Lord Who Saves)

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge… my Savior; you save me from violence.”2 Samuel 22:2–3

We all need rescue. Whether from external enemies, internal struggles, or eternal danger, the human soul cries out for deliverance. And the answer to that cry is found in one powerful name: Jehovah Yasha, “The Lord Who Saves.”

When David looked back on his life—years of warfare, betrayal, personal failure, and divine mercy—he called the Lord his Savior. Not just once, but again and again. His salvation wasn’t an event. It was a lifelong reality.

📜 Word Study

Yasha (יָשַׁע) is the Hebrew verb meaning “to save, deliver, or rescue.” When combined with Jehovah, it forms a deeply personal declaration: “The Lord is my rescuer.” This word is also the root of the name Yeshua—Jesus.

In fact, the angel told Joseph, “You shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). Jehovah Yasha became flesh and lived among us.

💎 A Diamond of Truth

Jehovah Yasha doesn’t just save from danger—He saves from death. He delivers us from the penalty of sin, the power of shame, and the grip of fear. His salvation is complete, ongoing, and unshakable.

And it’s available to all who call on Him. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).

💬 Reflect and Respond

  • Have you personally called on Jehovah Yasha to save you from your sin?
  • Are there areas in your life where you still need deliverance today?
  • Who in your life needs to hear that salvation is found in the Lord alone?

Salvation is not just what God does—it’s who He is. Trust Jehovah Yasha. Celebrate His rescue. And share His saving name with someone who needs it.
