“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” – Revelation 1:8
From beginning to end, Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of all things. By calling Himself the Alpha and the Omega, He declares His eternal nature, sovereign authority, and divine completeness. Alpha (Α) is the first letter of the Greek alphabet, and Omega (Ω) is the last. Together, they signify everything—from A to Z, first to last, source to summation.
This title is found in Revelation—a book unveiling Jesus in His glorified majesty. He is not just the carpenter from Nazareth—He is the eternal Lord over time, history, nations, and the cosmos. Nothing began without Him, and nothing ends without Him.
📜 Word Study
Alpha and Omega (Greek: τὸ ἄλφα καὶ τὸ ὦ, pronounced toh AL-phah kai toh OH) is a Hebraic-style idiom meaning “everything,” encompassing all that exists, was, or ever will be.
Jesus uses this title of Himself in Revelation 22:13: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” Each phrase adds weight to His absolute and unchanging nature.
