“I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” – John 6:35
Jesus doesn’t just give bread—He is the Bread. When the crowd sought Him for another miracle meal, He offered them something far greater than loaves and fish. He offered Himself—the eternal nourishment for hungry souls.
In calling Himself the Bread of Life, Jesus echoed the manna from heaven that sustained Israel in the wilderness (Exodus 16:15). But unlike manna, which spoiled overnight, Jesus never runs out and never leaves us empty. He satisfies completely, eternally.
📜 Word Study
Bread of Life (Greek: ὁ ἄρτος τῆς ζωῆς, pronounced ho AR-tos tays zo-AYS) combines two powerful images: artos (bread, essential nourishment) and zoe (life, fullness, vitality). Jesus offers not just survival—but abundant, soul-sustaining life.
This title appears uniquely in John 6, where Jesus contrasts earthly food that perishes with Himself—the food that endures to eternal life.
💎 A Diamond of Truth
Many try to fill the hunger of their hearts with temporary things—success, pleasure, approval—but they always grow hungry again. Only Jesus, the Bread of Life, satisfies the soul. He doesn’t merely fill the stomach. He nourishes the spirit.
If you’re weary, empty, or spiritually starved, come to the table of grace. His body, broken for you, is the feast that never fails.
