“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus…” – 1 Timothy 2:5
Between the holiness of God and the sinfulness of man, a great chasm stretches wide. Religion tries to build a bridge with effort. Good works try to span the gap with merit. But none can reach the other side. Only one Person can stand in the middle—Jesus, the Mediator.
He is not just a messenger. He is the meeting place. As both fully God and fully man, Jesus represents both sides in perfect unity. He satisfies God’s justice, and He secures man’s peace. Through His blood, the wall is torn down. The way is open. The throne is accessible.
📜 Word Study
Mediator (Greek: μεσίτης, pronounced meh-SEE-tays)
- Means “one who goes between,” an arbitrator or reconciler in legal or relational conflict.
- Used in the context of covenant negotiation and fulfillment.
Jesus is not one of many mediators—He is the only one. No saint, priest, or pastor can fill His role. He alone restores fellowship between God and man.
💎 A Diamond of Truth
You don’t need to shout to be heard by God. You don’t need to clean yourself up before you come. Jesus is already standing in the gap—pleading, interceding, connecting heaven and earth with nail-scarred hands.
Your prayers pass through Him. Your salvation comes by Him. Your confidence rests in Him. He is the unshakable bridge from wrath to mercy, from distance to nearness.
💬 Reflect and Respond
- Do you approach God with boldness, knowing Jesus is your Mediator?
- Where are you tempted to rely on other “middlemen” for access to God?
- How can you help others understand that Jesus is the only way to the Father?
There is one God—and one Mediator. His name is Jesus. And He lives to bring you near.
