Daily Diamonds – Titles of Jesus: The Son of God

“And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”John 1:34

From the lips of John the Baptist to the voice from heaven at Jesus’ baptism, this title rings through Scripture with divine authority: Son of God. It declares Jesus’ identity—not merely as a messenger from God, but as God Himself in human flesh.

To be called “Son of God” is not to be lesser than the Father—but to be of the same essence. It expresses Jesus’ eternal divinity, perfect unity with the Father, and unique role in salvation history. The demons recognized it (Matthew 8:29). The disciples confessed it (Matthew 16:16). The resurrection proved it (Romans 1:4).

📜 Word Study

Son of God (Greek: υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ, pronounced hwee-OS too the-OU) is a title denoting divine nature, not human origin. In Jewish context, to claim this title was to claim equality with God (John 5:18), which is why it incited accusations of blasphemy.

This title is foundational to the gospel. Without the Son of God, there is no perfect sacrifice, no resurrection power, no divine Savior.

💎 A Diamond of Truth

Jesus is not just a good man, a wise teacher, or a spiritual example. He is the Son of the Living God. His authority is unmatched. His nature is divine. His love is eternal.

If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, you are standing on the very cornerstone of saving faith (John 20:31).

💬 Reflect and Respond

  • What does it mean to you personally that Jesus is the Son of God?
  • Do you trust His divine authority over every area of your life?
  • How can you boldly confess Him today—not just as Savior, but as the eternal Son?

Worship the Son. Trust the Son. Confess the Son. For He is the Son of God—worthy of heaven’s praise and your wholehearted faith.
