End Times? What Do Current Wars and Alliances Tell Us About the Coming Conflict?

Don’t Worry About Tomorrow, Friend—God’s Already There

Are today’s wars and shifting alliances fulfilling Bible prophecy? Explore how modern military tensions, global coalitions, and rising hostility toward Israel mirror the prophetic patterns found in Ezekiel 38–39 and Matthew 24.

“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed…”
Matthew 24:6 (ESV)

🌍 War Today—and the War to Come

From Ukraine to the Middle East, from cyberattacks to nuclear threats, the world is bracing for the next big war. But what if these battles are part of a larger, older pattern? What if the conflicts we see today are actually warming up the stage for something the Bible predicted thousands of years ago?

Jesus said the last days would be filled with “wars and rumors of wars” (Matthew 24:6). But He also said these are only the “beginning of birth pains” (Matthew 24:8). So, what’s coming next?

To understand where we are and where we’re headed, we must look at the blueprint God gave us in Ezekiel 38–39—a prophecy about a massive future invasion of Israel—and compare it to the alliances and tensions unfolding right now.

📖 A Prophetic Preview in Ezekiel 38–39

The prophet Ezekiel foresaw a massive invasion against Israel by a coalition of nations led by a powerful figure named “Gog” of the land of “Magog.” While scholars vary on the exact identification of each name, many agree:

  • Magog – likely modern-day Russia
  • Persia – modern-day Iran
  • Put – modern Libya
  • Cush – Sudan or Ethiopia
  • Gomer and Beth-Togarmah – regions linked to modern Turkey

“I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out… Persia, Cush, and Put are with them…”
Ezekiel 38:4–5 (ESV)

This alliance will come “in the latter days” (Ezekiel 38:16), invade a “peaceful and unsuspecting” Israel, and be dramatically defeated by divine intervention—not by human armies.

God says:

“I will summon a sword against Gog… I will enter into judgment with him, with pestilence and bloodshed; and I will rain upon him and his hordes… torrential rains and hailstones, fire and sulfur.”
Ezekiel 38:21–22 (ESV)

The outcome? God is glorified. Israel is delivered. And the nations know that the Lord alone is God.

📈 Modern Alignments: Are We Seeing This Form?

While we cannot yet say Ezekiel 38 is being fulfilled, we are undeniably seeing the precursors take shape.

🇷🇺 Russia and Iran: A Growing Partnership

Russia (Magog) and Iran (Persia) are increasingly unified in military and economic cooperation. Russia supplies weapons to Iran, and Iran provides drones for Russian warfare. Their joint hostility toward Israel is growing stronger by the year.

🇹🇷 Turkey’s Drift Toward Radical Alliances

Although a NATO member, Turkey is showing signs of shifting away from Western alliances and aligning more with Iran, Russia, and radical Islamist groups. This shift mirrors the Ezekiel 38 group.

🌍 Anti-Israel Sentiment Rising Globally

From UN resolutions to campus protests, global hostility toward Israel is intensifying. Even Western nations are cooling in their support. The international climate is being primed for the kind of betrayal and invasion Ezekiel predicted.

🇸🇦 The Abraham Accords and Peace with Caution

Meanwhile, Israel is forming “peace treaties” with former enemies—just as Ezekiel said Israel would be living in “peace and unwalled villages” (Ezekiel 38:11) when the attack comes. Could current peace be the calm before a prophetic storm?

⚔️ Why Will They Attack Israel?

Ezekiel says Gog and his allies will come “to seize spoil and carry off plunder” (Ezekiel 38:12). Israel’s natural gas fields, tech infrastructure, and military dominance make it a tempting target for future aggression.

But deeper than economics, this war is spiritual. Satan has always opposed God’s chosen people—and as the end draws near, his fury intensifies.

“Woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath…”
Revelation 12:12 (ESV)

The war on Israel is a war on God’s promises—and God will respond decisively.

✝️ What Should Christians Do?

1. 🧠 Stay Informed but Not Afraid

Jesus told us to expect these things, and He reminded us not to panic:

“See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.”
Matthew 24:6 (ESV)

God is not surprised by global turmoil. He is sovereign over every alliance and every army.

2. 📖 Watch the Middle East

Keep your eyes on Israel. It remains the prophetic clock of Scripture. The nations rage—but God’s purposes will prevail through His people.

3. 📢 Be Bold in Your Witness

The signs of the times are not meant to make us speculative—they are meant to make us urgent. Now is the time to preach, pray, and point people to Christ.

4. 🕊️ Long for the Prince of Peace

The wars of this world will not end until Jesus returns. He alone can bring peace—not through politics, but through redemption.

“He shall judge between the nations… and they shall beat their swords into plowshares…”
Isaiah 2:4 (ESV)

🙌 Final Thought

Don’t worry about tomorrow, friend—God’s already there.

Yes, war is rising. Yes, alliances are forming. But the God who wrote the end from the beginning is not nervous. The nations may rage, but He remains enthroned (Psalm 2).

One day, Jesus will descend not with diplomacy, but with a sword—and He will reign forever.

“Behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.”
Revelation 19:11 (ESV)
