🕊️ One at a Time
Do You Have At Least One in Focus?
“Others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.”
— Jude 1:23 (ESV)
🌊 The Starfish Story
You may have heard the parable of the little boy walking along the beach, throwing stranded starfish back into the ocean. A man approaches and says, “Why are you doing this? There are miles of beach and thousands of starfish. You can’t possibly make a difference.” The boy picks up another starfish, gently tosses it into the waves, and replies:
“I made a difference for that one.”
It’s simple, yet profound. That’s the heart of the gospel. One Savior. One cross. One soul at a time.
🔥 Pulling Them Out of the Fire
In Jude 1:23, we’re reminded that soul-winning isn’t optional—it’s urgent. The fire is real. The time is short. And while we might be overwhelmed by the sea of souls, God asks us:
Do you have at least one in focus?
We lose heart when we only see the forest. But Jesus didn’t die for a forest—He died for trees. One by one. Name by name.
đź“– One Soul at a Time: Biblical Examples
- Jesus and the Samaritan Woman – John 4:1–42
He sat down at a well for one woman, and it sparked a village revival. - Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch – Acts 8:26–40
God transported a preacher into the wilderness for one soul riding in a chariot. - The Lost Sheep – Luke 15:4–7
“Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the one that is lost?” - The Thief on the Cross – Luke 23:39–43
In His final moments, Jesus focused on one dying man beside Him. - Ananias and Saul – Acts 9:10–19
God gave Ananias a single assignment: visit Saul. That one encounter helped shape church history. - Andrew and Peter – John 1:40–42
Andrew didn’t win thousands, but he brought one—his brother Peter. - Jesus calling Zacchaeus – Luke 19:1–10
“Zacchaeus, come down… I must stay at your house today.” One dinner changed a tax collector’s life.
🌱 The Forest and the Tree
We’ve all been there. Looking at the multitudes, frozen by the mass of needs. But God doesn’t call us to win the world all at once. He calls us to start with one:
- One conversation
- One prayer
- One lunch meeting
- One neighbor
- One child
- One name on your prayer list
You don’t have to save every starfish. But can you reach one?
💬 Jesus’ Principle: The Eye and the Light
Jesus said,
“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eye is single, your whole body will be full of light.”
— Matthew 6:22 (ESV)
A single focus brings clarity. Soul winners must not let their vision blur with statistics. Focus on one soul with laser precision.
🙋 Who Is Your One?
- Is there a child who needs your attention?
- A co-worker whose questions you’ve ignored?
- A neighbor God keeps putting on your heart?
- A family member who’s drifting?
Don’t let the size of the ocean stop you from reaching for one starfish.
🧠Tools to Help You Stay Focused
- Pray daily for one name.
- Keep a soul-winning journal with names and progress.
- Ask God to open one door every day.
- Celebrate every single decision for Christ.
🎯 Final Challenge
“Whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.”
— James 5:20 (ESV)
You may not be able to reach everyone—but you can reach someone.
Will you be the one who makes a difference for that one?
