đ¨ When Fear Breeds Complaining
[10] When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel cried out to the Lord.
[11] They said to Moses, âIs it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt?
[12] Is not this what we said to you in Egypt: âLeave us alone that we may serve the Egyptiansâ? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.â
We often complain when we are afraid. And the children of Israel had every earthly reason to fear. Pharaoh and his chariots were comingâfast, angry, and ready to drag them back to slavery. đ The world never wants to let us go. The yoke of bondage presses constantly on our progress in Christ.
But here’s the deeper problem: when we long for what God delivered us from, we reveal just how content we had become with spiritual crumbs. And in that mindset, we lash outâat our leaders, at each other, and even at Godâs plans for our future.
âJust leave us alone.â
We say we want freedom, but sometimes weâd rather have familiar chains than walk by unfamiliar faith.
đ Faith or Frustration?
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
The Lord has plans for your futureâbut they require faith, not frustration. Complaining about our circumstances is more than just ventingâitâs a subtle declaration that we donât believe Godâs way is best.
Every complaint is a symptom of a faithless heart. Let that settle for a second. đŹ
đŁ Godâs Response to Our Whining
Even Moses, Godâs chosen leader, had a moment of âLord, what now?â And Godâs response was piercing.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
đĽ Stop complaining and keep going!
God doesnât just listen to your fearâHe calls you to action. The sea may not have parted yet, but your faith has to step toward the impossible before it becomes possible.
đśââď¸ Faith Moves Forward
Godâs answer to fear isnât always comfortâitâs direction.
- When we feel overwhelmedâHe says, âGo forward.â
- When we feel like quittingâHe says, âGo forward.â
- When we donât see the wayâHe says, âGo forward.â
Faith doesnât ask for a road map. It obeys the next step God gives.
đ Final Thought
Next time you’re tempted to grumble, pause and ask:
âWhat is this complaint saying about my faith?â
Then hear the gentle nudge of heaven: âStop complaining⌠and keep going.â
