Throughout history, God’s people have longed for something beyond this world. The Bible says that they looked forward to a city and a country prepared by God.
Hebrews 11:8-10 (ESV) – “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.”
Hebrews 11:13-16 (ESV) – “These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.”

Jesus Himself spoke of the place He is preparing for those who follow Him.
John 14:2-3 (ESV) – “In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”
- 🏠 A Place in the Father’s House – Jesus is preparing specific dwellings for each believer.
- 🌟 The New Jerusalem – A city of gold, pearls, and glory descending from Heaven (Revelation 21:2).
- 🤝 Eternal Fellowship With Him – “That where I am, you may be also” – we will live with Jesus forever.

- 🔑 A Guarantee of Our Inheritance – The Spirit is a down payment of what is to come (Ephesians 1:13-14).
- 🌿 Foretaste of Eternal Life – The fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) is a preview of Heaven’s joy.

Like Abraham, Moses also looked ahead—not to earthly rewards but to what Christ had in store.
Hebrews 11:24-26 (ESV) – “By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.”
- 🏆 Moses traded earthly wealth for eternal reward.
- 🛡️ He valued suffering for Christ above Pharaoh’s riches.
- 👑 His faith was in God’s promise, not Egypt’s power.
🔥 Like Moses, we must live for Heaven’s eternal rewards rather than the temporary pleasures of this world.
