But God Part 9 Raised Him

When Grace Enters the Situation

Text: Acts 2:22–24; Luke 24:1–7 (ESV)

Every story in Scripture bends toward this moment.

Every promise, every deliverance, every rescue, every But God finds its fulfillment here.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not merely an event in history. It is the decisive interruption of death itself.

Humanity delivered its verdict.

The cross appeared final.

But God raised Him.

The Verdict of Humanity (Acts 2:22–23)

“Jesus of Nazareth… this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.”

Peter’s words are direct.

Jesus was rejected.

Condemned.

Executed.

The religious leaders believed they had silenced Him.

Rome believed it had dealt with another problem.

The disciples believed it was over.

The tomb was sealed.

Hope was buried.

The But God Moment (Acts 2:24)

“But God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.”

Here is the greatest divine interruption in history.

Death exercised its full power.

And lost.

The resurrection was not God’s reaction to an unexpected tragedy.

It was the fulfillment of an eternal plan.

Death did not win temporarily.

It never stood a chance.

The Empty Tomb (Luke 24:1–3)

“But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb… and they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.”

The women came expecting death.

They brought spices.

They came to mourn.

Instead, they encountered absence.

The stone was rolled away.

The grave was empty.

What looked like defeat had been undone.

The Announcement of Heaven (Luke 24:4–7)

“Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.”

These words reframe reality.

Jesus is not a memory.

He is alive.

The resurrection is not symbolic.

It is historical.

It declares that sin has been paid for.

That judgment has been satisfied.

That death no longer reigns.

Resurrection Changes Everything

If Jesus is raised:

  • Sin is forgiven
  • Death is defeated
  • Hope is secure
  • Faith is justified

Without the resurrection, Christianity collapses.

With it, everything changes.

Grace does not merely help us cope with death.

It conquers it.

The Gospel Thread Completed

Joseph was raised from prison.

Israel was raised from oppression.

Judges were raised for deliverance.

David was preserved from death.

Jonah was raised from the depths.

All of them pointed here.

The resurrection is the final But God.

Death said, “It is finished.”

But God said, “He is risen.”

Living in This “But God” Moment

Some stand at graves today.

Some carry loss that feels permanent.

Some face situations that appear final.

The resurrection does not deny sorrow.

But it refuses to let sorrow have the last word.

What seems impossible is never beyond God.

The tomb may be sealed.

But God still raises the dead.

Grace has entered the situation.

A Final Word

The resurrection is not just something God did.

It is something God continues to do.

Every time a sinner is made alive in Christ…

Every time hope rises from despair…

Every time death is denied its victory…

The resurrection speaks again.

Death is powerful.

But God is greater.

Grace has entered the situation.
